# AWS Secret Association

During the process of setting up an AWS integration, you will be prompted to enter the secret information associated with the AWS instance and cloud services.

The secret allows Apono to sync and provision access to cloud resources without needing to store credentials for the AWS environment.

### Add the secret

Since secrets are based upon instance-specific credentials, choosing an incorrect secret will cause the integration to fail.

Use the following steps to add the secret to an integration:

1. Under **Secret Store**, click on the **AWS** tab.
2. From the **Secret region** dropdown menu, select the region for the secret.
3. In the **Secret ID** field, enter the secret.
